A seminar called "Training of Trainers on Disaster Risk Assessment Methodology" was held jointly organized by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Swedish Civil Defense Agency (SCA), in partnership with the Italian International Environmental Monitoring Center (CIMA).

According to the information provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to APA, the seminar was organized within the framework of the Eastern program of the European Union (EU) "Prevention, preparation and response measures of natural and man-made disasters" (PPRD East3).

The main purpose of the seminar was to form the basis and national policy for the development of the national methodology for the assessment of disaster risks and to increase the skills in these areas.

In the seminar, the process of Disaster Risk Assessment based on the recommendations of the European Commission of the European Union (EC), the Civil Protection Mechanism of the EU, the Joint Research Center of the EC and the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction on the National Disaster Risk Assessment, the assessment of the current situation in Azerbaijan, the management mechanism and institutional creation of a framework, determination of general indicators of the national methodology (initial data, list of hazards, examples, risk scenarios, impact criteria and thresholds, loss indicators and probabilities), determination of examples for the preparation of preliminary and complete scenarios of disaster risks and earthquakes, floods, forest fires, Issues such as preparing risk scenarios for landslides are covered.

At the seminar, the Ministries of Emergency Situations, Health, Labor and Social Protection of the Population, Energy, Digital Development and Transport, Economy, Ecology and Natural Resources, Science and Education, State Statistics, State Urban Planning and Architecture Committees, the Republican Seismological Service Center under ANAS, the Azerbaijan Golden Crescent Society, as well as representatives of the Italian International Environmental Monitoring Center and the Swedish Civil Defense Agency participated.
