However, earlier this product with emeralds was also owned by other owners.

The history of the emerald necklace begins in December 1911, when King George V and his wife Queen Mary went to India for the Delhi Darbar.

Their visit was the only time a British monarch has attended this meeting.

On December 9, the Principality of Patiala and a committee on behalf of the ladies of India presented Maria with an emerald and diamond necklace and pendant and a carved emerald brooch.

After such a lavish gift, Queen Mary personally wrote a letter of thanks to the ladies of India, in which she said: "The jewel you have given me will always be very precious in my eyes, and whenever I wear it, despite the thousands of miles of land and sea that separating us, my thoughts will fly to the homes of India, and will again and again replay this happy meeting and recall the tender love that your hearts have given me."

In 1921, Queen Mary asked the jewelry brand Garrard to remake the necklace in the art deco style that was modern at the time.

As you can see, on the choker, cabochon emeralds alternate with diamonds.

Mary usually wore this piece with Cambridge emeralds and a Delhi Darbar parure.

After Mary, this unique product was inherited by Elizabeth II in 1953, but she was never a fan of chokers, so she wore it very rarely.

In 1981, Elizabeth II gave a choker necklace to Lady Diana Spencer as a wedding gift.

The new princess was very fond of wearing this necklace, and once during a visit to Australia in 1985, she wore it on her forehead in a bandeau style.

Lady Diana last wore an emerald necklace on her 36th birthday in 1997, just two months before her death.

However, after the tragedy, it was reported that the necklace had been returned to the Queen's collection.
