According to Bloomberg, the operating system of Apple's upcoming headset will be named "xrOS," which was originally RealityOS or rOS.

The product is planned to be released next year, and there will also be a dedicated software App store, with "xrOS" as the system name, which focuses on XR extended reality, which includes VR virtual reality, AR augmented reality and MR mixed reality.

The headset, developed by Apple's secretive team led by Apple Vice President Mike Rockwell, will be Apple's first new product category since the Apple Watch in 2015, which currently accounts for more than 10% of its sales. Contributed $41.2 billion annually.

Bloomberg also found that a shell company called Deep Dive LLC has applied for the "xrOS" brand trademark in several countries internationally and is trying to obtain the name in the United States.

This is Apple's usual practice. For example, Jamaica is where Apple recently registered the iPhone 14 Pro Dynamic Island trademark.

If Apple does manage it behind the scenes, it means that it is also considering using "xrOS" as its public product name, but it does not rule out that Apple will use another name for its final release.
