The Head of Morogoro Region, Fatma Mwassa, has warned the people of the region to avoid involving county officials, villages, streets and their chairpersons in matters of land and plots because they will be a battery and not legally recognized.

Mwassa has given the warning on November 30, 2022 during his public meeting with the citizens of Kiegea "A" and "B" streets after receiving the information of the Director of Morogoro Municipality, Ally Machela regarding the implementation of the 4,500 acre plots project.

He said that the people of the region who want to sell plots or their land should follow the existing laws by using the lawyers of their district councils and the Morogoro Municipal Council, since special forms have already been prepared for settlement agreements in accordance with the law.

Despite this, the governor has praised the people of those areas for showing great wisdom and patience throughout the crisis.

Mwassa has asked the citizens to use the plots wisely and wisely as they are property, and not to sell them carelessly and to remember to distribute them to their children because in the coming years they will not be able to buy plots in Morogoro town.

"I have been told that one person can have more than one plot, now don't sell it carelessly but let your children own it and distribute it to them, this is an asset, don't leave your children poor" said Mwassa

The head of the region has also asked men who get more plots not to waste them, but to remember to register their wives.

With that, the head of the region has used the opportunity to ask the citizens to follow the legal procedure of having documents, maps and obtaining a construction permit when they are ready to build their houses.

"It is forbidden to build without getting a document, it is forbidden to build without a building permit, if you build without a building permit, the consequences are that the government can demolish it without paying you compensation, building without permits is not a good thing," said Mwassa.

With that, he has advised them that if they need to sell some of their plots to get money to build their houses, it is better to follow the legal procedure by using the Municipal lawyers since the contracts are prepared according to the law.

"Don't go to the ward executive, the local executive, the village executive and the village chairman because any relationship through these people is a battery and will not be recognized, they have no legal authority, what they are doing is fraud and art," said Mwassa.
