"International organizations and some foreign countries allocated enough funds to prevent the drying up of Lake Urmia, but the Iranian government spent it on itself and no action was taken for Lake Urmia."

APA reports that Jala Tabrizli, an activist on ethnic issues and women's rights, co-founder of the "Erk" human rights protection organization, said this at the "Where is Urmu Lake" event.

He said that the main reason for the drying up of the lake is the cutting off of the water supply and the unplanned expansion of agriculture.
