China's COVID measures have sparked a rare rebellion against Xi Jinping

Demonstrations broke out in China on Sunday against the strict restrictive measures that the authorities are imposing in an effort to maintain the "zero covid" policy.

Anti-government slogans were also raised at the protests, including demands for the resignation of President Xi Jinping and a change to the one-party model.

Protests continued in some Chinese cities on Monday, and police dispersed hundreds of demonstrators in the diplomatic district in the capital, Beijing, DPA reported.
