The Police Force in Mbeya region has arrested a resident of Ilolo Street, Sinde Ward, Shari Mwambamba (27) accused of killing her two sons and injuring another and her younger brother.

Mbeya Regional Police Commander, Benjamin Kuzaga said the incident happened the other day when the suspect attacked his three sons and his younger brother with a sword.

Kuzaga named the children who were killed as Neema Chembe (7) and Leonard Chembe (2) and the injured as Nuru Mwambamba (23) and Emmanuel Chembe (3).

He said that the initial investigation shows that on November 20 this year, the suspect was at home with her husband, Evarist Chembe (45) and started to lose his temper and speak incomprehensible things while claiming that he remembered his younger brother Usangu Mbarali who hanged himself.

Commander Kuzaga said the suspect's husband called his (accused's) younger brother, Nuru Mwambamba to come pick him up and take him to their home for naturopathy.

He said the suspect refused to go to them and then he committed the murder.

The Chairman of Ilolo Street, Ngambi Kulaba said he received reports of an unusual incident in his street and when he arrived he witnessed two children dead by sword cuts and two other people injured.

Kulaba said that while the police were searching the house, they saw another child hiding under the bed.

"We took out the baby who was in the womb and saw that he was still breathing and then we decided to rush him to the hospital for treatment," he said.

One of the family's neighbors, Mariam Mahenge, said they felt the incident was due to family disputes and that she had been doing business with the suspect.
