Irina Friz

reported , writes "Nastojatschee Vremya".

According to her, the purpose of the bill is to prevent threats to Ukraine's national security and ensure order.

The Russian Orthodox Church, Friz writes, "for too long carried out open anti-Ukrainian and subversive activities and advocated all the actions of the criminal Russian regime."

A day earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine conducted searches in more than 350 church buildings on the territory of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pecherska Lavra in Kyiv, the Koretsky Holy Trinity Monastery and the premises of the Sarnensko-Poleska diocese of the UOC in the Rivne region.

Security forces checked 850 people, more than 50 of them "passed in-depth counter-intelligence interviews, including the use of a polygraph."

In the premises, they found pro-Russian literature for teaching in seminaries and parish schools, "including for propaganda of the Russian world."

  • On May 27, the Local Council of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate took place in Kyiv, which decided to completely renounce the Russian Orthodox Church.

All references to the Russian Orthodox Church were removed from the charter of the religious organization, while they never announced their withdrawal from the Russian Orthodox Church.

  • In September, the Sejm of Latvia removed the local Orthodox Church from the Russian Orthodox Church, essentially making it autocephalous.

Latvian politicians and officials believe that the Moscow Patriarch should not have power over the local Orthodox community, which makes up about 15% of the population, and for Latvia it is a security issue.
