One of the most famous images of

Diana

was a blue silk dress with an application in the form of large stones of a topaz shade and golden rivets of various shapes.

The outfit was made in a simple straight silhouette, had wide straps, a deep square neckline and a slit at the back, but the decor on it was in the characteristic Versace brand geometric Greek patterns.

This dress was the first Gianni Versace designed for Lady Diana and started a long friendship and collaboration between the two celebrities.

And if at first glance you may think that the style of the conservative representative of the British royal family and the Italian designer, who loved to dress models in sexy dresses that emphasized the figure, are not compatible, then you are very wrong.

At the time Diana and Gianni met, the princess was going through a bad period in her personal life, and her relationship with Charles was at an all-time high.

In 1992, the couple finally separated, and although their divorce was finalized only in 1996, during this period of time the public was even more actively interested in the life of the British woman and her clothes.

Therefore, for any designer who collaborated with her, it was a star time.

Also, Diana decided to abandon overly restrained bows, this was probably helped by Gianni, who helped to emphasize her sexuality with clothes and significantly refreshed her wardrobe.

She appeared more and more often in clothes above the knees and with deep necklines.

It is known that the blue dress was one of a kind, created for the Haute Couture collection, and was delivered to Diana on a rack marked "Lady Diana".

Diana first wore this outfit for a photo shoot in 1991.

The look was completely unlike what the Princess of Wales has worn before - it was bold, a little edgy and sexy, but not just because of the dress, the styling by Sam McKnight and make-up were also impressive.

Patrick Demarchelier was the author of the famous photo shoot.

However, the world saw these photos as early as 1997 on the cover of the November issue of Harper's Bazaar magazine.

This happened already after

the death of the Princess of Wales

, and the issue was called "Diana: A Tribute to the Princess".

The picture was also used in Rosalind Coward's book "Diana: A Portrait".

In 2015, a Versace dress was included in Julien's auction.

The initial price of the outfit was 30,000 dollars, and experts assumed that as a result of the bidding, it would be possible to sell it for 80,000 dollars.

However, the auction exceeded all expectations - the dress was sold for 200,000 dollars.

The issue of the magazine for 1997, on the cover of which she appeared, was attached to it.

It is not known who paid such a large sum for this outfit, but the dress has been repeatedly displayed at exhibitions in British museums.
