Blizzard Entertainment of the United States announced earlier that it will end its 14-year cooperative relationship with China NetEase. After the contract expires on January 23, 2023, Blizzard will suspend most of its game services in China.

Games including "World of Warcraft", "Hearthstone", "Warcraft 3", "Overwatch", "Star SeaCraft" and other games will be affected; only "Diablo: Immortal" is jointly developed by the two parties project, so it is not affected.

Blizzard also stated in the statement that Blizzard has signed a licensing agreement with NetEase since 2008, but because the two parties have not yet reached an agreement on compliance with Blizzard's operating principles and commitment to players and employees, they have not been able to extend the cooperation.

Blizzard also pointed out that it will suspend new sales in the next few days, and Chinese players will soon receive details on how to operate.

As soon as the news came out, Chinese players were shocked, and even reached the top of the Weibo hot search list.

Taiwanese players also had a heated discussion on PTT, worried that Chinese players would return to the Taiwan version, and said "the return of locusts?"

However, some players said, "Are there still people in China playing World of Warcraft?", "There will be new manufacturers to take over!"

Later, Chinese media reported that the reason for the breakup between Blizzard and NetEase was that Blizzard offered to renew the contract at a sky-high price. If NetEase agreed to the conditions listed, it would be tantamount to doing nothing.
