One of the cult images of Diana was a black dress, which was called the "revenge dress".

We have already told you the history of this evening outfit.

The princess then picked up a sapphire necklace for him, and we will talk about it today.

It is no secret that the princess was very fond of sapphires.

It was with this blue stone that she chose her wedding heel, which is now proudly worn by the wife of her eldest son Prince William - Catherine, Princess of Wales.

The sapphire that was on her that day in the choker is estimated by experts to be 50-70 carats.

British retailer Stephen Stone's jewelers investigated the history of the jewelry worn by Princess Diana that day.

"With that in mind, it could be worth between £50m and £100m. It's probably one of the most expensive pieces of jewelery in the entire royal collection," one expert told express.co.uk.

The princess received a sapphire brooch as a wedding gift from the Queen Mother, the brooch belonged to Queen Mary and was handed down according to royal tradition.

Princess Diana redesigned the brooch, making it the centerpiece of the seven-strand pearl necklace she wore on June 29, 1994, at London's Serpentine Gallery, with a dress by Greek designer Christina Stambolian.

The dress was made of heavy black velvet, had open shoulders and a sweetheart neckline.

The event was a fundraising dinner hosted by Vanity Fair magazine for the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens.

Diana declined the invitation to the dinner, but two days before the dinner, after Charles' betrayal was widely publicized, she accepted the invitation.

The dinner took place on the night of a TV program about her husband, in which he admitted to cheating after their marriage "disintegrated irretrievably".

Charles and Diana had separated two years earlier.

Anna Harvey, Diana's former stylist, said Diana "wanted to look a million dollars...and she did."

As for the choker, the princess was also pictured wearing this iconic piece while dancing with John Travolta nine years earlier at the White House in 1985.
