Singer Taylor Swift triumphed at the MTV European Music Awards held in Düsseldorf, Germany, winning four awards, the Associated Press and Reuters reported.

Swift, who along with Harry Styles led in nominations with seven, took home the awards for Best Female Artist, Best Pop Artist, Best Video and Best Video (Long Form) for the 10-minute version of the track. All Too Well".

The singer, who is currently topping the charts with hit 'Anti-Hero' from her record-breaking album 'Midnights', made a surprise appearance at the ceremony in Düsseldorf.

Accepting her first accolade, Taylor Swift said the only reason this is happening to her is because of the fans. 

French DJ David Guetta and singer Bibi Rexha opened the show with a performance of their joint hit "I'm Good (Blue)," which was honored in the Best Collaboration category.

Guetta also received the award for best electronic music artist.

"Muse", who won the award for the best rock act, heated up the atmosphere with the track "Will of the People".

The British rockers dedicated their performance to the people of Ukraine and the women of Iran.

The show was hosted by singer Rita Ora and director Taika Waititi, who got married earlier in the year.

The performer impressed with outfits.

The "Thor: Love and Thunder" creator joked that he tried to channel the pop star in him. 

Nicki Minaj won three awards, including best song for "Super Freaky Girl" and best hip-hop artist.

The rapper missed the award ceremony.

Singer Harry Styles, who is currently on tour in the US, was honored in the Best Live Performance category. 

One of the most moving performances of the evening was by the winners of this year's Eurovision Song Contest - the Ukrainian group "Orchestra Kalush".

While the band was on stage, the hall was bathed in yellow and blue in support of Ukraine.

On the red carpet, frontman Oleg Psyuk explained that with his newfound fame, "Orchestra Kalush" can demonstrate his support for the people of Ukraine and direct public attention to his fate. 



"It is important for us to be the voice of Ukraine," Psyuk said.

British grime artist Stormzy sang the ballad "Fire Babe" from his long-awaited third album "This is What I Mean".

One Republic performed the song "I Ain't Worried" from "Top Gun: Maverick" with a video intro from the film's star Tom Cruise, which they said was not easy to secure. 

Other standouts in the 17 gender-neutral fan-chosen categories included BTS (biggest fanbase), K-pop group Seventeen (best new artist and most successful push ), Lisa (best k-pop artist), "Gorillaz" (best alternative music artist), Anita (best Latin artist), Chloe (best rhythm and blues artist), writes UPI. 

Dusseldorf has a musical heritage as the home of pioneering German electronic group Kraftwerk, who influenced generations of pop and dance musicians with mesmerizing tracks such as Autobahn.

The city also hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011, Reuters recalls.

Among the stars who walked the red carpet was Julian Lennon, the son of the legendary Beatle John Lennon.

He stated that he had not seen a concert for years and that he was looking forward to the show, adds BTA.
