What should I do if the white nose heart breaks into the house?

How to deal with wild animals nesting and giving birth to babies?

The Taipei Animal Protection Department has recently received reports from the public that from October 1 to 16, there have been 8 rescue cases of white-nosed hearts (commonly known as civet cats) in just two weeks.

The Animal Protection Department reminds that if you encounter protected or general wild animals, don't panic, and follow the "3 nos" principle of "no interference, no contact, and no feeding", and let the wild animals return to their habitats on their own.

The Department of Animal Protection stated that the white-nosed heart is commonly found in the middle and low-altitude mountainous areas of Taiwan. It is an omnivorous nocturnal animal and is good at climbing. In recent years, the number of ethnic groups has gradually stabilized. The "white-nosed heart", which was originally listed as a conservation category, has been changed to a general category of wild animals, but according to the Wildlife Conservation Law, wild animals cannot be hunted at will.

Recently, people often mistakenly believe that there are street cats and other situations, placing trapping cages but catching white nose hearts, or getting lost and white nose hearts accidentally breaking into houses. Leave the scene, or evacuate the injured animal to a doctor.

The North City Animal Protection Department appeals to residents who live close to the mountainous area. If you find a juvenile white nose heart around the house, it is recommended not to touch it at will. If it is necessary to drive away wild animals, be sure to wait until the white nose mother comes back to take care of the baby before taking action. They sense that the current nest position is at risk of being disturbed, and it is advisable to "move" away by themselves, but do not frighten the white-nosed mother with loud noises or movements, lest the white-nosed mother leave the baby after being frightened.

If you encounter wildlife problems and do not know how to deal with them, you can call the 24-hour animal rescue hotline 02-8791-3064-5 or the citizen hotline 1999#4020 for notification, or check the official website of the Department of Animal Protection.
