Today we are talking about Vandana Singh Chauhan, one such IAS officer from Nasrullagarh, Haryana, who studied in Hindi medium and set a record by bringing 8th rank in CSE 2012 examination.

That too in such a situation when Vandana's family members did not want Vandana to study more.

It would not be wrong to say that Vandana has struggled a lot in life to fulfill her dream.

Vandana was born on 4th April 1989 in Nasrullagarh village of Haryana and there was no practice of teaching more girls there.

But, since childhood, Vandana's mind was to become an IAS officer.

During an interview, Vandana's father Mahipal Singh says that there was no good school in the village, due to which the son had to be sent to another school for good education.

Vandana's desire to read more and her dream did not let anyone get in the way.

His father says that even after the son left, Vandana had also rued that when he would send me to study.

In the initial days, Mahipal Singh did not pay attention to his daughter's words, but, one day when Vandana angrily told her father that "You are not sending me out to study because I am a girl", then this thing happened to her. Felt very bad and he got Vandana admitted in a gurukul in Moradabad.

His relatives (family members including grandfather, tau and uncle) had turned against Vandana for sending her outside to study.

After completing 12th, Vandana started preparing for UPSC from home itself.

Initially, Vandana used to study for 12-14 hours.

Vandana had also refused to install a cooler in her room so that she did not get much sleep during her studies.

After doing such hard tests, Vandana finally fulfilled her dream.
