Archaeologists discovered parts of wall paintings during excavations near Tvarditsa, the Historical Museum announced.

During researches of the medieval town of Verditsa, significant parts of wall paintings of a church located outside the fortress walls were discovered.

They are best preserved in the northwest corner of the vestibule.

In its lower part, a plinth is formed from rectangles of different colors, and above it, on a dark green background, a part of a straight figure of a saint or monk who suffered for the Christian faith stands out, reports BTA.

Property encroachments led to the significant destruction of this monument from the end of the 12th-13th centuries, according to the cultural institution.
