In the parish announcement, priest

Vladyslau Zavalnyuk

informs that he still does not have access to the church premises, and also lists the measures taken recently.

Among other things, the parish sent an open letter to

Alexander Lukashenko

, a copy of which is posted on the website.

"Turning to you, Aleksandar Ryhorovich, as the Guarantor of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, we ask you to pay attention to this situation.

Your assistance in a legal and civilized approach will allow us, together with the specialists of CUP Minsk Heritage, not only to inspect the property entrusted to us, but also to make a consolidated decision on the procedure for continuing divine services in the Church and the fastest restoration of the activities of the religious community,"

writes Father Zavalniuk.

  • On the night of September 26, a fire broke out in the church of Saints Simon and Elena in Minsk.

The cause of the accident was allegedly a fire in electrical wiring, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus reported.

On the same day, the administration of the Moskovskiy district of Minsk announced the temporary suspension of the church's work "until all deficiencies are eliminated and conclusions are drawn by competent specialists."

  • On September 6, it became known that the authorities are canceling the contract of free use of the church with the "Roman Catholic Parish of St. Simon and St. Helena" community.

An official letter was sent to the parish priest Wladislav Zavalnyuk with a demand to vacate the church and rectory (a building adjacent to the sanctuary where the priests live) by October 12, due to the "impossibility of its exploitation".
