300 PATIENTS have received expert treatment that started to be provided at the Southern Region hospital in Mtwara region.

The hospital, whose construction was completed in October last year and began to provide various medical services, has received expert orthopedic doctors from the Institute of Orthopedic Medicine (MOI) to serve citizens with orthopedic problems in the southern region.

Acting Director of the Hospital Dr. Geoffrey Ngomo said the doctors started providing specialist services on Monday of this week where they received 185 patients, and yesterday Tuesday they received another 115 with bone problems and other diseases that require surgery.

Ngomo has said that the doctors have joined the specialist doctors at the hospital to provide specialist orthopedic services, they will perform surgery until Friday and that the service will be continuous.

Speaking at different times, the patients who arrived at the hospital have expressed their satisfaction with the move to bring treatment services to patients with bone problems who need surgery.

"First of all, I am very grateful to our government for bringing us specialist services here in Mtwara, we have received great comfort because we were spending a lot of money to monitor treatment in Dar es Salaam," said Fakina Mohammed, the brother of the patient who was the first to undergo surgery in the hospital.

Citizens as well as patients who came to the hospital to receive care have requested the government to make the specialist medical service sustainable in order to help many citizens who spend a lot of money to go to Muhimbili and MOI.
