The Ministry of Health has approved the recommendations of the Expert Council on Immunoprophylaxis Supervision regarding the administration of a booster dose of adapted mRNA vaccines against COVID-19, the Ministry of Health reports.

All about the topic:

Omicron - the new coronavirus variant 963

Indicated for vaccination with adapted mRNA vaccines are all persons aged 12 years and older who have completed their vaccination course or received a booster with the original vaccine more than 3 months ago.

How dangerous is the new sub-variant of "Omicron" - "Centaur"?

ONLY the adapted mRNA vaccines are administered as booster doses:

- Comirnaty Original/Omicron BA.1;

- Spikevax Bivalent Original/Omicron BA.1;

- Comirnaty Original/Omicron BA.4-5.

A booster dose is strongly recommended for:

Immunocompromised;

Transplant patients receiving immunosuppressive therapy;

Chronic dialysis patients;

Patients with oncohematological diseases;

Users and staff in social institutions providing long-term care for the elderly;

Medical professionals involved in the treatment of patients with COVID-19;

Seniors aged 65 and over;

Vaccinated more than 6 months ago from completion of primary immunization or administration of a booster dose.

With the availability of various adapted vaccines against Omicron and its sub-variants, the possibility of broader protection of citizens against COVID-19 during the autumn-winter season, when new waves of COVID are possible, is expanded.

In this regard, the Expert Council on Immunoprophylaxis Supervision and the Ministry of Health recommend that citizens who have not received a booster in the last 6 months, as well as those who have completed a vaccination course and have contracted COVID-19 before, receive a booster dose of the adapted vaccines May 2022

At the moment, quantities of the three adapted vaccines (Comirnaty Original/Omicron BA.1; Spikevax Bivalent Original/Omicron BA.1; Comirnaty Original/Omicron BA.4-5) have been delivered to the country, and the Comirnaty adapted vaccine organization was created on October 3 Original/Omicron BA.4-5 to be available in general practitioners' offices, vaccination stations in hospitals and regional health inspectorates.
