A series of events were held in the city of Ganja in connection with September 27 - Memorial Day.

At the memorial ceremony, the head of the Ganja City Executive Niyazi Bayramov, the Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces Vasif Kazimov, the Turkish Consul General in Ganja Zeki Öztürk, the head of the Ganja City Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications Ramil Aliyev, the head of the Ganja City Chief Police Department Teymur Hajiyev, MPs Parvin Karimzade, Mushfiq Jafarov, YAP Chairman of Ganja city organization Ramil Orujov, representative of the Council of Judges of the Caucasian Muslim Administration, Haji Tahir Abbasov, heads of law enforcement agencies, departments, enterprises and organizations, presidents of courts, war participants, families of martyrs and public representatives participated.

According to the information given to APA by the Ganja City Council of Ministers, at the event held in Shahidler Alley of Ganja, first the officials visited the monument with the names of the missing soldiers for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and laid flowers in front of it.

Later, the head of the Ganja City Executive Authority, Niyazi Bayramov, and the Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces, Vasif Kazimov, laid a wreath in front of the "Eternal Torch" monument.

The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed by the military orchestra.


It was reported at the event that in order to prevent the next military aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan started a counter-offensive operation along the entire front under the leadership of the Supreme Commander from September 27, 2020.

Our brave soldiers and officers, our civilians working in the rear, united like a fist around the victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, and dealt crushing blows to the enemy, showing great determination and will.

2,907 Azerbaijani servicemen were martyred, more than a thousand soldiers were wounded, and 7 people were missing in the Patriotic War.

During the Patriotic War, the city of Ganja gave 122 martyrs, 96 of them military and 26 civilians.

The people of Azerbaijan highly appreciate the bravery of their fighting sons and daughters.

At the ceremony, schoolchildren sang poems on the theme of patriotism, prayers were read for the souls of those who died during the 44-day Patriotic War.

The dear memory of the martyrs who died for the sovereignty of Azerbaijan was commemorated with a minute of silence.

Sound signals were given at 12:00 by cars and fire engines.

Later, the officials visited the area destroyed as a result of the Armenian armed forces shelling Ganja during the Patriotic War, and inspected the board with the pictures and information of the civilian martyrs who died there.

Officials laid flowers in their memory as a sign of respect.

As a continuation of the series of events, a tree-planting action dedicated to the dear memory of our martyrs who died in the Patriotic War took place in the Nizami Ganjavi Mausoleum.

The head of the Ganja City Executive Authority, Niyazi Bayramov, heads of law enforcement agencies and members of parliament participated in the action.

It should be noted that in connection with September 27 - Memorial Day, the flags of Azerbaijan and Turkey were hung from the administrative and residential buildings of the city.
