Imelda Staunton, an Irish-English actress, will play the role of Queen Elizabeth II, replacing Olivia Colman, who played in the fifth and sixth seasons.
She will be the third actress to wear the crown in the series - the role of the young queen was played by Claire Foy in the first and second seasons of the show.
