"Covid-19 affects all human organs, including the eyes.

In 20 percent of cases, itchy eyes and pain and sensitivity to light may be the only symptoms of coronavirus in patients."

APA reports that this was stated by ophthalmologist Imran Jarullazadeh, a specialist of the Ministry of Health.

According to him, according to statistics, eye pathologies are observed in about one-third of patients who are hospitalized in intensive care units due to COVID-19:

"Among them, conjunctivitis, eye hyperemia and hemosis were more frequent.

Observations have shown that patients who have experienced COVID-19 complain of long-lasting dry eyes, burning, and redness of the eyelids when they visit an ophthalmologist after 1-3 months.

Also, vision loss can be observed in patients who do not pay attention to the recovery period.

This is caused by atrophy of the optic nerves, narrowing of the field of vision and, in the last case, thrombosis of the retina, which leads to complete blindness.
