[Reporter Ling Meixue/Taipei Report] The National Taiwan Museum curated the "Centennial Dialogue: A Special Exhibition of Encounters Between Transnational Movers and Collections", which opened on the 26th.

With "collection and community connection" as the curatorial core, the exhibition focuses on the beliefs, arts and customs of Southeast Asia, and selects more than 60 pieces of Taiwan Museum's Nanyang collection, including Kris daggers, masks, wooden flat puppets, shadow puppets, sweet Lang's musical instrument models, coins, living utensils, etc., as well as the Bali mythical animal "Balong" donated to the Taiwan Museum by the Indonesian Economic and Trade Representative Office in Taipei in 2019, as well as the collections of the Museum of World Religions and the Taipei Puppet Theater; It also collects Thai food utensils, ancient books on the belief of water gods in Vietnam, and peacock feathers, crowns, tiger-faced lions in Indonesia, etc., to show the time dimension spanning a hundred years, and how to meet different cultures across regions and how to create a dialogue through "objects" and "story".

Li Lianquan, executive vice-minister of the Ministry of Culture, said that Taiwan has a unique and diverse culture. From the earliest historical records of aboriginal people to the present, it has undergone three immigrations and three colonizations, and the culture brought by the new residents has become more important to Taiwanese society in the past 30 years. One of the important cultural elements, a large number of new residents come to Taiwan to take root because of marriage and work. The largest number of them are from Southeast Asian countries.
