[Reporter Huang Meizhu / Hsinchu Report] Hsinchu County's First County Governor's Cup National Calligraphy Final and Hard Pen Calligraphy Competition was held today at six elementary schools.

Among them, 6 foreign friends and the oldest contestant, Qiu Rongfa, 93 years old, also wrote the words "Hsinchu takes off, what you want will come true" to assist in the promotion.

Among these contestants, African-American Thomson studied Chinese at University and is currently a foreign language teacher in a cram school in Taiwan.

The 25-year-old said that in his eyes Chinese is the most beautiful language. He wanted to unravel the mysteries of Chinese characters and learn to write calligraphy. Although it has only been three months, he has already been deeply fascinated.

Malaysian Zeng Lingbin came to Taiwan when he was a university student, and it has been 8 years so far.

However, he has liked calligraphy since he was a child, and he is glad that there is no nationality restriction for this competition, so he made a special trip from Tainan to participate.

As for the oldest contestant, Qiu Rongfa, he has naturally written well since he was young and has won awards in major competitions.

The Hsinchu County National Calligraphy Competition organized by the Hsinchu County Cultural Foundation and organized by the Hsinchu County Cuizhu Calligraphy and Painting Society attracted calligraphy masters from all over the country, with a total of 637 works participating.
