And although we can guess that the cause was natural old age and a series of health problems that worsened, there was no official announcement.

But, as reported by express, the reason will most likely be named next week, after the end of mourning in the royal family.

King Charles III declared family mourning until September 26, while state mourning ended the day after Elizabeth II's funeral on September 19.

The Queen's death was announced to the public at 6.30pm on Thursday 8 September.

After her death, all inquiries in Aberdeenshire were transferred to the National Archives of Scotland (NRS).

And last week, the NRS said it would not comment on the cause until the mourning period is over.

Registration of deaths in Scotland is compulsory under the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages Act 1965.

This law states that "the death of every person who dies in Scotland" must be registered.

This includes submitting a death certificate to the registrar, which must be done within seven days of the death.

If the Queen died in England, there would be no need for an official cause of death to be made public because the Registration Act of 1836 does not apply to monarchs.

But Elizabeth died in Scotland, which means that the cause of her death must be made public.

We previously reported that the alleged cause of the Queen's death was named.
