September 15 marks the 103rd anniversary of the birth of writer and patriot Nikolay Haitov.

The author of the famous "Wild Tales" and "Shumki ot Gabar" was born in the Rhodope village of Yavrovo, Plovdiv Region in a very poor family.

His parents are ordinary peasants.

Haitov graduated from junior high school in his native village, but instead of entering high school in Plovdiv, he began to earn his own living in the big city.

His first essay was published in 1954 in the magazine "September".

This is followed by an offer of cooperation in the magazine, where he publishes his story ("A case without precedent") and a new essay, reports "Darik".

In 1967, his famous "Wild Tales" were published.

They have over 10 editions in Bulgaria and have been translated into 28 foreign languages, including Chinese.

They are building a bust-monument of Vasil Levski in Kermen

Nikolay Haitov died at the age of 82 on June 30, 2002 from leukemia and was buried in the Central Cemetery in Sofia.
