The Netflix series "The Crown" will stop filming after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

On Thursday (September 8), Buckingham Palace announced that Elizabeth II had died at Balmoral, aged 96.

“As a mark of respect, filming on 'The Crown' was suspended today.

Filming will also be suspended on the day of Her Majesty the Queen's funeral," Netflix said in a statement to

The award-winning drama follows the life of Elizabeth II with the Queen played by actors Claire Foy, Olivia Colman and most recently, Imelda Staunton.

The popular drama is currently filming its sixth season.

There have been many public figures who have expressed condolences for the death of the Queen.

Before she died, she was said to have been bedridden for several days as she was being treated for some health problems.
