Archaeologists are working on the northernmost ancient Greek colony in the Balkans - Emporion Pistiros, near the town of Vetren, Pazardzhik.

Emporion Pistiros was a Greek trading center that functioned between the 5th and the first quarter of the 3rd century BC, located in the heart of Thrace by the banks of the Maritsa River.

The archaeological site is being studied for the 34th year, and in the current season, along with the Bulgarian specialists, volunteers from America, Canada and Norway are participating in the research.
