West Pomeranian Governor

Zbigniew Bagucki

announced that the authorities will build three new dams to create a "cascade" system.

Each rowing should help move dead fish from the Audrey, the PAP agency writes.

A few days ago, dead fish began to be dumped on the banks of the Odra in Poland.

The first toxicological studies conducted at the University of Katowice showed that the river had become too salty, and the fish had been affected by chemicals poured into the river, presumably from the German side where the river flows.

But the exact results of the research will be published later.

Bagutski stated that the German side does not respond to the problem and does not fight it.

According to him, the Polish side collected more than 3 tons of dead fish just the previous day.

As for the German version, there is a nod towards Poland that its authorities did not immediately notify neighboring regions of Germany about the problem, Tagesschau writes.

In addition, Federal Environment Minister

Steffi Lemke

criticized the "lack of German-Polish cooperation".

She said that the true scale of the disaster should be found out soon.

Piotr Skubala

, a representative of the University of Śląsk in Katowice ,

said that the chemicals had a detrimental effect not only on the fish in the reservoir, but also on invertebrates, birds and people.

Military personnel were assigned to combat the environmental disaster in Poland.

Earlier, the Prime Minister of the country,

Matevush Morawiecki,

announced a reward in the amount of 210,000 euros for information that would lead to the arrest of the criminal responsible for the massive sea of fish in the Odra.
