Russia's ambassador to Serbia, Aleksandr Bocan-Harchenko, on August 8 gave the bombshell announcement that Russia will build a new military base in Serbia.

The main Russian news agencies immediately distributed the announcement throughout Russia, Europe and the world, because the authority that gave it was the ambassador in Belgrade, who represents the government, the president and the Russian state.

"Russia will build its military base in Serbia.

The basis is a matter of Russia's own interests," wrote the Russian pro-government news agency "ura.ru" on August 8.

On the same day, the other pro-government news agency "news.ru" enthusiastically wrote in the title: "The establishment of the Russian military base in Serbia - a sick tooth in the jaw of NATO".

Another Russian agency "nsn.ru" wrote: "A Russian military base in Serbia would strengthen its status as an ally of Russia."

The "glas.ru" portal trumpeted: "Russia disrupts the plans of the NATO armed forces with the help of Serbia."

The "Vologda-poisk.ru" portal emphasized: "Such a base is advantageous for both countries."

Portal "tsargrad.ru": "Russia stands up for the Serbian brothers.

We must do everything possible so that the Vucic regime remains in power."

Another Russian portal "eadaily.ru": "The Russian military base in Serbia will perform reconnaissance tasks."

"nsk.tsargrad.ru" portal: "The Russian military base in Serbia is only the first step.

The game has started."

It is an unusual development in the region, which should be taken very seriously, both for its content and consequences, as well as for the diplomatic representation with which it was announced.

The construction of a new Russian military base in Serbia constitutes a serious step and act of threat and military danger against the Balkan states and peoples.

It is a serious provocation that should ring bells in all the capitals of the region and in all the capitals of the EU and NATO.

The Russian ambassador did not explain how the agreement to build the Russian military base in Serbia was reached.

Is this the result of Russia's request or the result of Serbia's and its president Vucic's request to Moscow and President Putin for military assistance to Serbia.

The Russian ambassador, as announced on August 2 by the Russian news agency "rosbalt.

ru",

announced that Serbia may turn to Moscow for military assistance in the context of the worsening of the crisis with Kosovo.

The announcement now of the construction of a Russian military base in Serbia is related to Russia's interests in the current complicated international conjuncture of Russian military aggression in Ukraine.

Russia plans to extend the armed conflict in the Balkans and for this it can only use Serbia.

The issue of the escalation of tensions by Serbia on the border with Kosovo and the theatrical threats of President Vučić for war against Kosovo are Russia's pretext to establish its military base in Serbia, as a permanent focus of Russia's fire in the Balkans.

Moscow is aiming to create security and military problems for NATO in the Balkan region, where ten NATO member states are located.

The only anti-Atlantic black hole is Serbia, the only strategic ally of Moscow, which is ready to be instrumentalized by the Kremlin in function of the Russian influence strategy in the Balkans.

By putting Serbian territory at the service of Russia against the Atlantic Alliance, Belgrade aspires to be rewarded by Russia for its colonial claims to Kosovo.

It is clear to all thinking people that President Vučić has threatened Kosovo with war three times within ten months, not for license plates.

He is wearing Milosevic's armor for the war, because he aspires to reclaim parts of Kosovo and primarily the North.

Vucic's miscalculation is that having the Russian military base in Serbia will supposedly make it easier for him to deal with the NATO forces guarding Kosovo.

In his latest remarks in July, NATO generals made it clear to the Serbian president that he cannot play with the security and integrity of Kosovo and that NATO forces in Kosovo are there to guarantee the security of the state of Kosovo.

Vučić's unquenchable ambition for the recolonization of Kosovo seems to have prompted him to hurry to call Russia for military assistance and to give him permission to build a Russian military base on Serbian territory.

The reality of the Balkans with eight NATO member states surrounding Serbia should remind the hallucinatory Serbian president that Milosevic's militaristic dreams died in 1999 with NATO's intervention in Serbia.

Serbia refused to join the anti-Russian sanctions and President Vučić was praised for achieving energy security with Russian gas.

But the Russian ambassador in Belgrade on August 8 directly linked Serbia's energy security from Russian gas with Moscow's security to have a military base in Serbia.

It becomes clear that Russian President Putin has given the Serbian president the cheap price of Russian gas at the price of building a Russian military base in Serbia.

Many were surprised in November 2021 when President Putin granted Serbia a six-month supply of Russian gas at a symbolic price of $270 per cubic meter at a time when the price of gas on the European market was $1,000.

Many were also surprised in May of this year, when Putin granted Vučić a new three-year contract of free Russian gas for Serbia at a price of 450 dollars per cubic meter.

No sane diplomat believed that Putin was being so generous about Vucic's beautiful eyes.

Some mistakenly explained that Putin had an interest in Serbia not joining the EU sanctions against Russia, as if Russia could be harmed by the sting of a micro-state and micro-economy like Serbia.

In the newspaper "Dita" dated 01.12.2021, in the article "Putin puts on Vucic the shirt of strength", it is noted that the well-known Russian newspaper "Pravda" on November 26, 2021, explaining the reasons for the cheap price of Russian gas for Serbia after of the Putin-Vucic meeting in Sochi on November 25, 2021, states that the Kremlin is seeking a Russian military base in Serbia in exchange for cheap gas prices.

Diplomatic and analytical circles in the region and in Europe did not catch this Russian signal.

Now the ambassador of Russia appears in Belgrade, who announces that Moscow will build a military base on the territory of Serbia.

It is a new negative and dangerous regional development, which has multiple meanings.

First, it constitutes a direct challenge to the EU, which has nurtured and nurtures illusions that with its unprecedented concessions to Serbia, it will remove it from Russia.

Secondly, the Serbian action to accept the Russian military base constitutes a direct challenge to NATO.

Because the Russian military base comes to the center of Ballani in a direct threatening radius to all NATO member states in the region.

I don't know if those myopic NATO soldiers or politicians have the mouth to speak anymore, who praised Serbia's so-called military neutrality every time they visited Belgrade.

Now the "military neutrality" of Serbia is being sheltered in the Russian military base and NATO must completely change its strategic and military plans for the Balkans, which suddenly appeared as a major danger to the Atlantic security architecture.

Russian military expert Viktor Baranec wrote for the Russian news agency "news.ru" on August 8 regarding the new Russian military base in Serbia:

Thirdly, it is a challenge to the Balkan states, which have nurtured illusions about Belgrade and have helped to arm Serbia with sophisticated Russian weapons, passing them through their territories.

Now those weapons, along with the Russian base, will be directed against all Balkan NATO member states.

The Russian portal "nsn.ru" wrote on August 8 that the military base in Serbia demonstrates Russia's readiness to return to the Balkans to resolve a number of regional issues.

Fourth, it is a direct challenge to Albania, Kosovo and the Albanian nation.

Serbia and Russia are trying to camouflage the establishment of the Russian military base in Serbia as dictated by the conflict with Kosovo.

In fact it is the opposite.

Fifth, the establishment of the Russian military base in Serbia is a discredit and an immediate and complete exposure of President Vučić's project for the so-called "open Balkans".

The Russian military base is not coming to ensure the watermelons of Konispol go safely to Belgrade.

The basis is coming for Serbia to oppress the Balkans and Albanians in the name of Russia.

In such a situation of danger at the door, the government, diplomacy and the Albanian state must raise the strategic and national alarm, because a great historical hostile force like Russia is pointing its weapons at the territories of the Albanian nation.

Albania and Kosovo must condemn Serbia's pro-Russian military policy and its dark intentions towards the Albanian nation.

Now is the most suitable diplomatic and state time for Albania to withdraw from the "open Balkan" of the Serbian president and to close its national ranks with Kosovo.

An "open Balkan" with the Russian military base in Serbia is not needed by anyone who does not want danger in the hearth of the house.
