Not glory for Pardes, this actress was the first choice

New Delhi :

Shah Rukh Khan and Mahima Chaudhary starrer film Pardes was a hit and not only the film but its songs were also well-liked.

Especially the actress of this film, Mahima Chaudhary came into the limelight after this film.

Mahima was very much liked in the film.

Now years later, filmmaker Subhash Ghai has revealed that he first narrated the story of Pardes to Madhuri Dixit, but later decided to cast a new face instead of a star.

Today the film's release completes 25 years.

Mahima Chaudhary and Shahrukh Khan were in lead roles in the film.

The film was directed by Subhash K Ghai.

In an interview done for acting school Whistling Woods International, Subhash said, “I initially narrated the story and character of Kusum Ganga to Madhuri Dixit and she liked the story. Madhuri was already a big star by that time.

He continued, "But when I explained it in detail - a young and innocent village girl. A girl who sees an airplane in the sky and thinks of going to America, a girl who wants to go to America because of her friends There's also got married there... someone who dreams of getting married and moving to America. But that too has the innocence of a teenager. I realized I wouldn't find that innocence in a star, while a new face would do it , which Mahima Chaudhary did."

The filmmaker also said that Mahima's innocent laugh impressed him and he decided to cast her.

Subhash Ghai also said that initially Shah Rukh Khan was not ready to wear trousers except his jeans and shirt.

"Shahrukh had a problem why he was wearing trousers, why not jeans in the film?"
