Paranormal activity investigators have captured what they believe is a "disembodied face" in a photograph taken in an abandoned building.

The group was exploring a building on an island in Co Galway, Ireland when the "terrifying sight" was caught on camera.

This follows some scary events inside the building in a previous investigation, which prompted the group to go back and document their evidence, reports the Telegraph.

The team from Paranormal Supernatural Investigation Ireland (PSII) frequent eerie buildings and locations said to be "haunted" to find answers to the question that continues to be asked: "Do ghosts exist?" reports The Mirror.

During the week the group visited Inchagoill Island in Co Galway's Lough Corrib to explore after experiencing "unexplained things" last time.

Nine members of the team went to continue the investigation, which was focused on the ruins of an old house.

The outline of what the group believes to be the face of an old man can be seen "eavesdropping" on one of the team members, who is standing near the door.

The woman told the group that she was feeling anxious and scared, and that she was horrified when she saw the photo, which was taken with a specialized camera commonly used in paranormal activity investigations.
