This week we are at the peak of the wave.

We'll get through it next week.

If we coolly wait for the measures already imposed, we will go downhill.

This is what the mathematician Prof. Nikolay Vitanov said in the program "Face to Face" on BTV on the occasion of the spread of the coronavirus in Bulgaria.

All about the topic:

The epidemic of coronavirus (COVID-19) 31953

Our accounts show that no significant increases are expected from now on.

In the large regions of Plovdiv, Varna and Burgas, the 7-day morbidity rate is decreasing, and in Sofia the decrease is expected to begin next week.

The new measures have a short term of action - just as long as the wave is broken, then they will be removed, said Prof. Vitanov.

He indicated that he does not see any particular problems in reducing the quarantine period from 10 days to less, especially since there are indications that the tide is beginning to break.

The mathematician predicts that there will be no total closure of schools.

They announced a change in the new COVID measures in Sofia

For September - October there are two options - either we will have a wave like the current one, or a new sub-variant will come from India.

At the end of autumn and the beginning of winter, a wave is still expected, but I don't expect it to be stronger than the one from last winter, commented Prof. Nikolay Vitanov.

He urged the caretaker health minister to, if he can, persuade people to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
