In the survey, Belarusian society is divided into five segments: the democratic core, sympathetic, silent, authoritarian and "Lukashenka's base".

Main results

  • 63% of Belarusians believe that abortion should be legal.

    This is the opinion of 80% of supporters of the union of Belarus with the European Union and only 53% of supporters of the union with the Russian Federation.

  • Almost 70% of women see the problem of domestic violence as urgent, while the number of men with the same opinion is only 41%.

  • 60% of the surveyed citizens consider the problem of distribution of household duties to be urgent, namely, the fact that women do most of the housework.

  • Half of the respondents do not consider discrimination against women in the labor market as an actual problem.

    Most supporters of the regime think so (71%).

  • 38% of women consider the low representation of women in the government problematic.

    The number of men with the same opinion does not reach one fifth.

  • Only 25% of Belarusians see discrimination based on sexual orientation as an actual problem.

    This is the opinion of the majority of supporters of the union with the EU (52%).
