For the first time in history, the EU has imported more liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States than via pipeline from Russia.

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), June is the first month in history that the EU imported more LNG gas than from Russia.

The UK and EU experienced a record high level of LNG imports in April as higher prices in Europe compared to Asia attracted suppliers to transport the gas to Europe.
