Prime Minister Edi Rama said that the "Open Balkans" initiative does not unite Albania and Kosovo, but that it does not hinder them in bilateral relations.

Rama during a press conference after the meeting of the two governments, stressed that the abolition of tariffs in this initiative should be done with Kosovo.

"It is true that the Open Balkans do not unite us, but it is just as true that it does not divide us.

"Which means that at this point we have different perspectives, this is not a secret which means that they will not hinder us for bilateral relations", said Rama, writes Telegrafi.

He noted that in terms of customs tariffs, Albania will open the market.

"My message from the government I lead is that everything that is implemented with the Open Balkans must be implemented with Kosovo as well.

The abolition of all customs tariffs for companies is today in the Open Balkans, we want to do it with Kosovo as well.

"In terms of tariffs, Kosovo has asked us for time to do a feasibility study, but we will open it in a one-sided way", he added.

Rama concluded that meetings with businesses in Kosovo should not involve any speculation.

"Do not ask governments to talk about enterprises.

I meet with Kosovo businesses, even in Albania, this is not something that has to do with the Government of Kosovo and no allusion or speculation that is not true should be included here ", concluded Rama.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that the "Open Balkans" is another issue compared to bilateral meetings with Albania.

"Our bilateral relations are excellent and fraternal.

The brothers have no mediators between each other, so this meeting is also to strengthen them in both our states.

"The issue raised [Open Balkans] is another issue, not between Kosovo and Albania and for this I have nothing new to add", concluded Kurti.
