South Korean software engineer Jung Ki-young has given a special farewell to the retirement of Internet Explorer, the web browser from Microsoft.

To commemorate the 'extinction' of this browser, he spent a month and 314 euros to design and order a headstone, which had the "e" logo and the name "Internet Explorer", Telegrafi reports.

In this 'tombstone' he wrote: "It was a good tool to download other browsers".

After the memorial was made in a cafe run by his brother in the southern city of Gyeongiu, a photo of the tombstone went viral.

Microsoft has retired Internet Explorer after a period of 27 years, to focus on its faster browser, Microsoft Edge.

Jung said the memorial showed his mixed feelings about the older software, which had played such a big role in his working life.
