The Road Passenger Transport Association has requested from the Government of Kosovo that for a certain period of time the excise tax on the supply of petroleum products for the road passenger transport sector by bus be removed.

If this is not possible, they have requested the exemption from VAT of the supply of oil derivatives, until the normalization of the created situation.

As stated in the press release, these requests were made due to the drastic increase in prices of petroleum products in Kosovo.

"The Steering Council of the Association of Road Transport of Passengers by Bus has held an extraordinary meeting on June 9, 2022, where it was discussed about the difficulties and the significant consequences that are being carried by the operators of this sector from the aggravated situation in our country," it said. in the communiqué.

"For some time now, this sector has faced many difficulties, starting with the Covid-19 pandemic, and then continuing with other accompanying problems from lack of support and lack of subsidies until now to the problems of drastic increase in fuel prices. oil in Kosovo ”.

“In conclusion, the Road Passenger Transport Association has requested from the Government of the Republic of Kosovo that for a certain period of time the excise tax on the supply of petroleum products for the road passenger transport sector by bus or the VAT exemption on the supply of oil derivatives, until the normalization of the created situation ”.

It is further stated that the approval of these requests would help companies that are on the verge of bankruptcy and at the same time would protect the public interest of citizens as a preventive measure to increase ticket prices. /
