The trial over political prisoner Uladzimir Matskevich will start on June 9 in Minsk City Court, Viasna reports.

Uladzimir Matskevich was detained in August 2021.

Matskevich was charged under three articles of the Criminal Code: Part 1 of Art.

342 of the Criminal Code (active participation in group actions that grossly violate public order) - for the "March of the People's Ultimatum" on October 25, Part 1 of Art.

361-1 (creation of an extremist formation) - for the platform "Assembly", as well as under Part 1 of Art.

368 (insulting Lukashenka) - for a video on the YouTube channel.

On February 3, demanding to change the measure of restraint to a written undertaking not to leave, to complete the investigation and set a date for the trial, Uladzimir Matskevich went on a hunger strike.

On the evening of February 14, he refused to drink water and went on a dry hunger strike.

On the 14th day Matskevich decided to end the hunger strike.
