In his speech ,

Porphyry

said that now the synods of the two churches are finalizing the legal documents, after which an official act will be prepared, and all other Orthodox local churches will be notified in accordance with the canonical order.

The Serbian patriarch hopes that all local churches will accept the autocephalous status of the Macedonian Orthodox Church - Ohrid Archbishopric.

The head of the MOC

Stefan

thanked the members of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the SOC for recognizing the autocephaly of the MOC.

The decision on canonical unity marks the return of the MOC to its status in 1959, which recognized maximum autonomy within the Serbian Orthodox Church.

The Macedonian Orthodox Church unilaterally declared its autocephaly in 1967, but then did not receive the consent of the SPC, which considered its priests "apostates."

The first change in the status of the MOC took place on May 9 this year, when the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Constantinople announced the recognition of the Macedonian Orthodox Church, its hierarchy and the faithful and established Eucharistic communion with it.
