Ukraine was declared the winner of Eurovision 2022 this year with the representative group Kalush Orchestras, followed by the United Kingdom which came in second and Spain in third place.

Despite this, during the voting process, it was said that there were irregularities and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) reacted to this.

In a suspected attempt to manipulate jury voting - the European Broadcasting Union withdrew jury votes from six countries.

They were replaced by a summary result based on countries with similar voting patterns in both the second semifinal and the grand final.

Votes from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania and San Marino were all replaced with the new result.

The points from the 40 juries had just begun to be presented by the spokespersons in the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, when the European Broadcasting Union issued a rather unusual statement: Six of the jury votes were questionable and were replaced by a summary result.

"In order to comply with the voting instructions of the competition, the EBU worked with its voting partner to calculate an overall replacement result for each country in question for both the second semi-final and the grand final (calculated on the basis of of the results of other countries with similar voting data).

This process was accepted by the Independent Voting Monitor.

The EBU takes every suspected attempt to manipulate Eurovision voting extremely seriously and has the right to withdraw these votes in accordance with the Official Voting Guidelines, regardless of whether or not such votes may affect the results and / or the outcome of voting, "the EBU statement said.

Instead, a “summary result” was calculated and used for each country.

The summary result is calculated based on the results of other countries with "similar voting records".
