El Salvador has become the first country in the world to adopt Bitcoin as a legal tender, which will work alongside the US dollar.

Recall that the International Monetary Fund has called on the country to ban the use of Bitcoin as a legal means of payment, citing the "great risks" posed by cryptocurrencies.

The value of Bitcoin continued to fall over the weekend, reaching below 32 thousand dollars.

According to CoinMarketCap, the world's largest cryptocurrency in terms of market value has now fallen by 50 percent, compared to its peak in November last year.

Bitcoin is currently trading at $ 31,900, a drop of about 18 percent in a week or about 5 percent in 24 hours.
