Vetëvendosje Movement spokesman, Arlind Manxhuka, called untrue the statement of the deputy of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Bekim Haxhiu, that there are also deputies of the ruling party who have given the green light to the initiative to withdraw 30 percent of savings from the Trust .

In a written response to the Telegraph, Manxhuka said that VV's position is the same as in 2020 when "the unconstitutional Hoti government had done the same unprecedented action by affecting the citizens' savings and endangering the Trust".

"We believe that the state should help citizens through redistribution, through increased employment, increased support for them in social schemes, children, women and youth, as well as farmers and small and medium enterprises.

"As a measure, the withdrawal of 30 percent of the Trust does not help those with low incomes or categories in need, as the percentage of their pension fund is low," he said.

According to him, this attitude and opinion is shared by all VV representatives wherever they are in institutions.

"Because putting your hands in the savings of the citizens' old age is an action that deserves to be called deficient in human qualities", added Manxhuka.

The citizens of Kosovo have recently faced enormous increases in the prices of both basic food products and other fuels and services.

To help citizens overcome the economic crisis caused more easily, the Democratic Party of Kosovo has proposed withdrawing up to 30 percent of pension savings.

PDK MP, Bekim Haxhiu, on behalf of the Parliamentary Group of this party, on March 9 submitted to the Assembly of Kosovo the Draft Law on supplementing and amending the Law on Pension Savings Fund, which would enable the withdrawal of these funds.

According to the PDK proposal, contributors who have less than 10 thousand euros in pension savings are required to have the right to withdraw 30 percent of funds.

Those who have up to 20 thousand euros - 25 percent, from 20 thousand to 30 thousand - 20 percent.

For contributors who have pension savings in the amount of 30 thousand euros - 15 percent and those over 40 thousand euros - 10 percent of the amount.

Representatives of the other two opposition parties in the Assembly, the Democratic League of Kosovo and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, have also spoken out in favor of withdrawing 30 percent of the funds from the Trust.

Whereas, the initiative has been opposed by the Government of Kosovo.

The Minister of Finance, Hekuran Murati, had said that this causes a dangerous precedent and even higher price increases.
