The KGB of Belarus recently accused imprisoned journalist Dzyanis Ivashin of working for the secret services of Ukraine, that he came into the sight of the KGB in 2017 due to the "destructive nature" of Internet activities.

Dzyanis Ivashin's wife Volha reacted to this accusation:

“Denis is accused of gathering some secret information, almost a state secret, to which he never had and could not have access.

He simply studied the information from open sources, which is easy to verify by reading his articles, which have all the links to these sources, "- told DW wife Olga Ivashina.

According to Volha, the public accusations of espionage, "public relations for the whole country" and scrolling videos on state television were a bit surprising, because from the very beginning the KGB investigative department in Hrodna region tried to hide even information about Dzyanis.

“We have been trying for almost two months to get at least the names of the articles from the investigators.

Correspondence with her husband is blocked, there is no question of transferring the case to court and getting acquainted with his materials.

And here's a miracle: they paint all their inventions.

This is due to the fact that Dzyanis is being presented to the participants of the fictitious "agency network" allegedly created by Ukrainian diplomats, "Volha says.

According to her, now the Belarusian regime, which is an accomplice of the Russian aggression, has a request for "anti-Ukrainian hysteria" and such propaganda stories.

According to Olga, the new turn in his case not only did not surprise Denis, but perhaps even calmed him down a bit:

“People started talking about him loudly, raising his level as a journalist (...) Dzianis was quite ironic about these accusations, saying that nothing bad was said about him in the end, all his best sides and achievements were described.

He even thanked them for the PR.

Denis still feels confident and continues to fight. "

In addition, according to Olga, now you can try to promote the idea of †‹вЂ‹ the possibility of exchanging journalists for Russian prisoners of war.

“Denis's case cannot be resolved at the level of field exchanges between individual combat units, and there have been no official exchanges of prisoners of war until recently.

Now that they have started, you can apply to the official Ukrainian authorities with a proposal to include Denis in the list for exchange, ”Volha said.

Dzyanis Ivashin was detained on March 12, 2021 for "interfering in the activities of a police officer."

Ivashin volunteered as an editor of the website of the international investigative community InformNapalm, worked as a freelance correspondent for the newspaper "New Time".

He is being held in the remand prison № 1 in Hrodna.

Ivashin is known for his investigations into the influence of the "Russian world" on Belarus, the scandalous construction in Kurapaty, as well as the transition of former Ukrainian "Berkut" in the security forces of Belarus.
