Two Ukrainian citizens, Yaryna Arieva and Sviatoslav Fursin, got married just hours after Russia began invading their country.

As CNN reports, the Telegraph reports, they spent the first day of their marriage collecting rifles and preparing to defend their state, Ukraine.

The couple, Arieva and Fursin had planned to get married in June, but decided to get married now as they did not feel confident about their future.

Arieva and Fursin have both signed with the Territorial Defense Forces, a branch of the Ukrainian armed forces composed mainly of volunteers.

After arming themselves, the couple headed to the office of their political party, European Solidarity.

"At the moment, we are here and we are doing everything we can.

So there is a lot of work to be done, but still, I hope that everything will be fine ", said Arieva, adding that some civilians who are not part of the defense force were also given rifles.

"There are some places where you can get them, and just sign the letters and you can go and defend your country," she said, adding that this is the current situation.

Otherwise, after threats for several months that the invasion of Ukraine will begin, Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday ordered military operations in this European country.

Two days ago, Putin signed a decree recognizing the two separatist regions as states, and 48 hours after this action, which was strongly condemned by the West, an order was given for military operations in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, security forces in Ukraine have called for mobilization, as shelling and airstrikes by Russia have not stopped since the early hours of Thursday morning.

Dozens of civilians have been killed so far, and Ukrainian authorities have announced that Russian troops have also suffered heavy casualties in both man and machinery.
