A teacher from Florida asked her sister in Kentucky to send a snowman to introduce her to the class when she realized most of her students had never seen snow before.

According to foreign media reports, the Telegraph reports, Robin Hughes, 60, a special education teacher at the SouthShore Charter Academy in Riverview, Florida, was reading a book about snow when he noticed that some of the children looked confused by the photos.

When she asked the students how many of them had seen snow before, only two of them raised their hands.

Hughes who grew up in Louisa, Kentucky, was no doubt surprised.

"I was surprised they had not seen snow," she said.

"It is difficult for children to understand the concept because they do not have the relevant knowledge."

Determined to show her students the snow, Hughes turned to her sister, Amber Estes, who lives in Danville, Kentucky.

She asked her to make a snowman and hand him over overnight, but Estes did not think it would be possible.

In January, when Danville was hit by snow, Estes went out into her backyard and built a snowman.

She then packed it in an insulated container filled with ice packs and closed the box.
