Singer Ronnie Spector, who was a member of the band "The Ronettes" in the sixties, has passed away at the age of 78.

"Our Ronnie left this world after a brief battle with cancer.

She died in the arms of her husband, Jonathan, and other members of her family were present.

"She was brave and with a smile on her face she fought until the last moment of her life," a statement said.

The artist was born in Harlem, New York, and in 1961 founded "The Ronettes" with her sister and cousin.

They became famous all over the world when they started collaborating with producer Phil Spector.

Some of their most popular songs are: "Be My Baby", "Baby I Love You", "Walking in the Rain", "Do I Love You?"

etc.

"The Ronettes" were also popular in England and sang with Eric Clapton, "The Rolling Stones" and "The Beatles".
