Russian President Vladimir Putin

Vladimir Putin is a Russian politician.

Alexander Lukashenko has been President of Belarus since 1994. Before entering today's talks, they went on the ice for a friendly hockey match, BTA reports.

The meeting is held in the hall of the children's and youth sports school "Manege" in the village of Strelna in St. Petersburg.

Moscow and Minsk have plans for joint military exercises in early 2022.

Putin traditionally plays at number 11 and Lukashenko at number 1. Famous hockey players, including Pavel Bure, Alexei Kasatonov, Valery Kamensky, Ilya Kovalchuk and Vyacheslav Fetisov, play in the teams.

Russian President Putin opened the scoring in the third minute and Lukashenko scored the second goal of the match.

Earlier, the BelTA news agency reported that at their meeting at the Konstantinovsky Palace in Strelna, the two leaders discussed current issues of bilateral co-operation.

The Russian president is a master of the sport of judo and sambo, loves to ski, and began playing hockey in adulthood and has been regularly on the ice ever since.

The previous hockey match with the two presidents took place in February 2020.
