The final phase of the construction of the spectacular suspension bridge "Canakkale 1915" is in progress.

When it officially opens in March next year, it will be the longest suspension bridge in the world and at the same time the longest in Turkey, Telegrafi reports.

Its largest space between the two pillars with a height of 318 meters will extend to 2,023 meters, which means that it will be 32 meters longer than the current suspension bridge "Akashi Kaikyo" in Japan, which also holds the record. as the longest suspension bridge.

Its total length should be 3,563 meters.

"Canakkale 1915" takes its name from the region of the same name located in northwestern Turkey.

It is also called the Dardanelles bridge, as it will be a link between two continents - Europe and Asia.

It will be part of the 321-kilometer "Kinali-Tekirdag" - "Canakkale-Balikesir" highway that will connect eastern Thrace with Anatolia.

The opening of the bridge is expected to take place on March 18 next year, five years after the foundation stone was laid by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
