Neeraj Chopra reaches the final

New Delhi:

India's Neeraj Chopra has made it to the final with a throw of 88.39 meters in the men's javelin throw category of the World Athletics Championships being held in Eugene, Oregon.

The Olympic Champion secured a place for the final in his first attempt at the qualification round.

Chopra was part of Group A of the qualification round and was the first to throw, where the 24-year-old finished his job early.

Now they will compete in the final.

Which will be held in the morning according to Indian time on Sunday.

The automatic qualifying mark in the javelin throw for the World Championship Final was 83.50 metres.

Chopra's throw was the best in Group A and only Jakob Wadlejcho, who won the silver medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, crossed the qualifying mark from his group.

The rest of the places will be decided after the Group B athletes have made their throws.
