Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with the Presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, Sadir Jafarov and Emomali Rahmonla.

According to the information reported by APA's Moscow correspondent citing the Kremlin's press service, Putin called on Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to prevent further escalation of tensions and to take measures to resolve the situation as soon as possible, only through peaceful, political and diplomatic means.

Putin also confirmed that Russia is ready to provide the necessary assistance to ensure stability in the Kyrgyz-Tajik border zone.
